Be still, my heart... One of my favorite concept cars ever. So, so much want. Designed by George Saridakis.
“ The car that I have been drawing all my life finally got a chance to be seen by the people who needed to see it.”
The “people who needed to see it” were the leaders of motor giant Ford, who were very impressed by the sketches of George’s dream car - done over a “wet weekend when I had nothing better to do”.
In fact, they were so taken with the design that they skipped the usual development stages and ordered a full-size clay model to be made immediately.

I love these, but haven’t even seen a pic of one in a while. I’d love to see a little ass refinement on this one.

I now have a new life goal. I know this will be expensive, I will probably spring for the electric version. Wow.

From when you could have every V8, V10 and V12 supercar with a stick.
The 2000s were the golden age.

Now if only someone would make a kit of the bronco concept.

God damn!! I remember when I saw that at the LA Auto Show. It was breathtaking. I am glad we may get to see some on the road.

Always had a soft spot for those.
These weren’t pretty cool too:

I have about 10 die- cast models of this, in various iterations... brushed silver stripes on silver paint, polished aluminum/chrome, and blue with white stripes, and maybe a few others.
There are only a couple of design tweaks I would make.
The grille... ever so slightly wider on the top than the bottom, and with big radiuses on the corners... I would tighten the radiuses, and make it wider on the bottom, perhaps all the way down to the air dam at the bottom.
Definitely not to the same degree as the 2018 Mustang, or even the 3rd-gen Ford GT.... it would still be very close to vertical on the sides, just slightly sharper, and a bit angry, rather than happy.
I’d re-work the fog light slotted pocket, too... not exactly sure how, but perhaps vertical to echo the vertical tail lights, which I love.
The headlights are cool, but look dated now.
I would definitely go McLaren on the roof, either transparent or carbon fiber options, and blacked out to join the rear window glass.
I would consider aero spats in front of the tires, and side skirts and a rear diffuser to keep aerodynamic lift in check , and increase downforce. Possibly in combination with active aero on the grille and hood extractor vents.
Engine options:
TT-V6 Somewhere between SHO and Ford GT spec output. (Stingray/Grand Sport competitor, street sport and track days )
GT350 flat-crank V8. (Z06 competitor, track tool )
Supercharged cross-plane V8 somewhere near GT500 spec. (ZR1 competitor, hulk in car form. )
rear 6-speed manual transaxle, or dual-clutch option, with IRS and torque vectoring, perhaps even slight rear steering assist to keep the turning circle short, and handling nimble with the front axle so far forward in front of the engine.
If Ford actually did this as a production line model, and priced it right down Corvette’s throat, then if Corvette goes mid-engined and doubles or triples in price... how many GM Corvette faithful would jump ship to a production GR1.

Oo oh, super cool! Wonder if they’ll change the design at all, it sure looks like it’d make some lift in front. Maybe just a little lip would fix that without spoiling the design.

You’ve thought a lot about this... haha!
Wish I had your collection. Which one’s your favorite?

I’d have to say the blue and white is my favorite.
Since I collect “cars” for my own enjoyment, rather than collecting toys for resale value speculation , I did un- card it.
It is historic, bold, classic, and generally gorgeous. It really is a revival of the Cobra Daytona.
Which Superformance already built that particular one...
